South Lake Tahoe Event Spotlight: “Footloose” at LTCC
June 15th, 2010 categories: Lake Tahoe Real Estate, South Lake Tahoe Events, South Lake Tahoe, CA, Stateline, NV
"Footloose" the Musical at the Lake Tahoe Community College

Have you been to one of the local college musicals lately? We always think that they're lots of fun. Their upcoming production promises to keep with that tradition.
It's back to the ‘80s as the Tony award winning musical "Footloose" hits South Lake Tahoe for a 7 show run.
Directed and choreographed by LTCC instructors Susan Boulanger, Mark Williams and Kelly Alvarez, Footloose the Musical contains large production dance numbers. “When people think of Footloose, they think of dancing, the tunes and Kevin Bacon’s performance,” Boulanger said. But it is not only your typical musical comedy, there is depth to it.”
The basic storyline: Chicago native Ren McCormack moves to the small town of Bowmont and comes into conflict with the town’s minister, Reverend Shaw Moore. Under the Reverend’s leadership the small town has banned dancing.
The themes: trying to belong, embracing life.
The Oscar and Tony nominated Top 40 score includes: “Holding out for a Hero,” “Almost Paradise,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and of course “Footloose” along with some new songs.
Tickets are $12 general admission, $7 for seniors and students with a current LTCC student body card.
There will be a special benefit performance on Friday, June 18, supporting the purchase of a grand piano for the music department. Tickets are $20 per person and guests will enjoy food and beverages before the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. The performance begins at 8 p.m.
