South Lake Tahoe Bargain Hunting 101

South Lake Tahoe Real Estate: Bargain HuntingYep, a South Lake Tahoe Bargain needs to be shown, not told. The key to it is Why?

In the last few days, we’ve had a handful of requests for the best buys on the South Lake Tahoe market. We like that, and find it encouraging.

Yes, South Lake Tahoe is a buyers market. We all know that, and these requests are from blog customers, all of them buyers, who not only know there are deals to be had right now, they have a good understanding of current South Lake Tahoe conditions, and want to know what the best bargains are.

The South Lake Tahoe House: How to See how it stacks up against its Competition

South Lake Tahoe Real Estate: How one house compares to another.Or how to price against competition if you’re a South Lake Tahoe Seller… or make sure you didn’t pay too much if you’re a Buyer.

Selling a house is not an exact science. Neither is evaluating one, or buying one for that matter. That’s true throughout the country, and South Lake Tahoe too.

There’s always much emotion and subjectivity involved, which is one of the reasons why it’s often so difficult for some to arrive at an objective conclusion about what a home is worth.

In one sense, though, and it’s a rather simple cliche, a home’s value is what a buyer is willing to pay for it. Nothing more, or less. Getting to that point, however, where the market dictates value, is a process.

Emotion and Ego: The Necessity of Taking Them Out of the Sale of a South Lake Tahoe House.

South Lake Tahoe Real Estate: Ego has to be removed from pricing a house. For some South Lake Tahoe owners it’s easy, for others it’s tantamount to exorcism.

Taking both emotion and ego out of the sale of a house is the difference between a quick sale for more money, or a long drawn out sale that gets less.

We all have a tendency to become attached to things that are ours, and particularly so for a place of family experiences and fond memories.

So it’s most understandable that a homeowner most often thinks that their home is worth more than a prospective buyer does.

How to Gain Market Control as a Buyer in South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe: How to recognize a good deal. How to make sure you don’t pay too much, or miss anything in South Lake Tahoe, or anywhere else for that matter.

One does not normally think of market control from a buyer’s perspective. Not in South Lake Tahoe, not anywhere really. The buyer does have ultimate control over a real estate market, though. There is no real estate market without them.

When a buyers does make the decision to purchase a home, two immediate concerns come into play. Both are fears, though a buyer may not consciously identify them as such.

Every home buyer has (1) a fear of paying too much, and (2) a fear of missing something.

We Finally Made it to the Other Air and Space Museum

National Air & Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center: SR71 BlackbirdAn SR71 Blackbird and the Enola Gay all in one sitting.

Standing there right in front of it, so close one can touch the tip of its slender, pointed nose, the SR71 Blackbird makes for a great abstract image, but from this angle it doesn’t look like there’s much in the way of a technically revolutionary aircraft behind it. Looks though can be deceiving, and certainly this image is one of those.

From South Lake Tahoe to Lead America: Olivier goes to Leadership Training.

US Capitol.A Great Opportunity for my wife Maxene’s Son.

We didn’t know what it was when we opened the invitation that came in the mail.  We had never heard of "Lead America" before then. It didn’t take much longer than reading it though to think this was something we had to check out.

The invitation was for Maxene’s son Olivier to attend the National Junior Leadership Summit this summer in Washington, DC. It wasn’t until later that we found out that it had come via one of Olivier’s teacher’s recommendations to Lead America, the educational foundation that  produces it.  (We later found out who the teacher was, and have thanked her profusely.)
