The Jean Chronicles: We’ve heard again from Jean.

Some plans have changed, but she’s actively involved and still coming.
This is the third installment of our developing story for Jean, a potential new area homeowner than contacted us through the recommendation of a friend and client about a month or so ago.
Instead of coming in this weekend as previously scheduled to look at homes here at the Lake and in the Carson Valley, she’s been delayed until the end of April. It’s a good sign when someone is considerate to call when their plans change, which allows us to un-do appointments and schedules in a timely fashion. That always makes it easier to reschedule showing appointments for the later, especially for homes that are owner occupied. Read the rest of this entry »

What We Do for You when You Email Us for Information.

It’s a lot, and we do it very quickly… even if we Don’t Know Who You Are… Yet.
We got an email the day before yesterday at 9:30 am that came from one of our websites about information on Kingsbury Grade, one of our Stateline, NV neighborhoods. Upon getting such an inquiry, our website immediately contacts the inquirer with a thank-you note from our auto responder. We get copied on that at the same time, and then immediately send a personal email as well.

A constant thing we’re doing with this blog is reporting national news, then comparing it to what is happening in your South Shore Lake Tahoe real estate market. Primarily this is done by taking specific numbers that are national, and then determining if they apply here. Catching Passes and Promoting Real Estate.

Spies, Paris, Football and an unconscious nod to P.T. Barnham. Here’s another story about our background. We hope you find it interesting. Before we talk about football and what that might have to do with our real estate practice, here’s how we got to France and what we were doing there.
Our family lived in Paris from 1957 to 1960. Our father, a career army infantry officer, was then stationed at Orly Air Base, part of Orly Airport (Aeroport de Paris), where he was responsible for securing and transporting classified material coming out of the Pentagon and Washington, D.C. across Paris to S.H.A.P.E (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe), which is where the allied command center had been since shortly after the end of WWII.

What the National News below really says, and what affect, if any, it has on our Market.
News Tickers this Saturday morning from the major cable television networks are scrolling headlines that report an unexpected increase in national existing home sales of 3.7%, and a dip in value of 1.5%.
Because weekends often delay the news cycle, many of our most prominent news websites are not populated with this news yet. We’ve found and posted two articles below that are interesting. What may be even more interesting than this news per se, is to explore what affect, if any, it may have on our South Lake Tahoe real estate market.

National Home Values Fall For 7th Straight Month

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Association of Realtors® released their existing home sales report today. The report indicated that although existing Single-family home sales rose 3.7 percent from the month prior, existing home sales are still off 3.4 percent from one year earlier. The report also indicated that home values fell 1.5 percent from just one year earlier, which marks the 7th straight month that home values declined.

Home sales up, but….

(Business Week) What’s wrong with this picture? Amid all the sturm und drang surrounding housing, the government reported earlier today that existing-home sales rose by nearly 4% in February—a surprise given that economists surveyed by Thomson Financial were predicting a decline of a little less than 2%. So what gives? Is the housing recession over before it even started?
